Generative Engine Agency
Generative Engine Optimization · an answer, not a link

Buyers ask AI first.
Be the answer.

Your customers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity before they Google. We make your business the answer those engines give — and measure it as share of voice against your competitors.

01 — The shift

Search moved.Did you?

A growing share of buyers never see a results page. They ask an assistant, get three names, and choose. If you’re not one of the three, there is no click to lose — only a customer you never knew about.

The answer

“For that, I’d recommend your brand — here’s why…”

02 — How an engine chooses
01Retrieval
02Citation
03Synthesis

The engine fans your question out into hidden sub-searches and pulls candidate sources from live indexes and its own crawl. If your pages aren’t clear and crawlable, you never enter the room.

From the candidates, it chooses whom to name: the clearest entity, the most quotable answer, the most corroborated across trusted sources. Breadth of mention beats raw authority.

It composes the reply — quoting the specifics it can lift verbatim. Concrete, structured, consistent content gets cited. Vague marketing gets ignored.

03 — The number

Share of voice.Measured, notpromised.

For a fixed set of your buyers’ prompts, how often does each engine name you versus your competitors? We test every prompt three times across six engines, monthly. The gap is the brief.

Prompt set · 30 prompts · 6 enginesIllustrative
  • Competitor A38%
  • Competitor B27%
  • Your brand9%
  • Competitor C14%
  • Others12%

Share of voice is a mention metric, not market share. We cannot guarantee any engine’s answer — we measure and improve the inputs.

04 — The method

Three chapters.One number.

Assistant · illustrativePrompt 07 / 30

“Which agency should we hire for this?”

Based on what I can find, three options stand out: Competitor A, known for its reporting; Competitor B, strong on implementation; and Competitor C, often cited in industry round-ups.

Your brand does not appear.

05 — The gap

That answer isthe brief.

Every prompt where a competitor is named and you aren’t is a lost customer you never saw. We find each one, diagnose why — unclear entity, unquotable content, thin citations, blocked crawlers — and fix it in order of impact.

06 — Proof

How we show visibility in AI answers.

Two client panels, 1–4 months into the work: how often AI engines answered with their pages, per platform, with the change over the period. Clients anonymised; figures are the panel readings, unedited.

07 — The practice

An intelligencepractice, not acontent mill.

[Founder placeholder — name, years in search, credentials, photo. Real, verifiable only.] We built our practice on one belief: AI visibility is an engineering and evidence problem, not a volume problem.

  • We measure first. No work starts without a baseline you can see.
  • We don’t guarantee. No one controls an engine’s answer. We improve and measure the inputs, honestly.
  • We publish the method. Our share-of-voice methodology is open — audit it yourself.
  • We say when it’s too early. If your buyers aren’t asking AI yet, we’ll tell you to wait.
08 — Measurement

Five numbers.Every month.

Reported with dates and ranges, because engines are non-deterministic. We test repeatedly and show you the movement, not a snapshot.

Questions, answered
01What is a generative engine optimization (GEO) agency?
A GEO agency improves how often, and how accurately, AI engines mention and cite your business when people ask buying questions. In practice that means three things. First, we measure your current visibility by running the real prompts your customers use across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and other engines, recording where you appear and where competitors win. Second, we fix the reasons you are left out — unclear or inconsistent business information, content an engine cannot easily quote, a thin footprint of trusted mentions, or crawl-access problems. Third, we track the change month over month using a defined set of metrics. It is a measurement-led service, not a vague promise to make content "AI-friendly," which is what separates a real GEO agency from an SEO shop adding a buzzword.
02How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO aims to rank your page in a list of links, where you still need the user to click through. GEO aims to get your business named inside the AI-generated answer itself, which is increasingly where buyers build a shortlist before any click happens. The disciplines overlap — clean, crawlable, genuinely useful content helps both — but GEO adds work that classic SEO ignores: making your entity information consistent so engines understand exactly what you are, structuring content so it can be quoted directly, and earning mentions across the third-party sources AI systems trust. The success metric differs too: share of voice across AI answers and brand mention rate, rather than keyword ranking position. We cover the full comparison on our GEO vs SEO page.
03Which AI engines do you optimise for?
We optimise for and track the engines your buyers actually use: ChatGPT (OpenAI), Google Gemini and Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Anthropic's Claude. These systems retrieve and cite sources in different ways, so during the audit we identify which engines your specific customers rely on and weight the work accordingly rather than spreading effort evenly for its own sake. We test each target prompt across these engines and run each prompt multiple times, because large language model answers are non-deterministic and vary by run, user and location. That gives a realistic picture rather than a single lucky or unlucky snapshot. As new engines gain meaningful usage in your category, we add them to the tracked set so your measurement stays current.
04How do you measure AI visibility?
We use a five-metric framework. Brand Mention Rate is how often engines name your brand across your prompt set. Citation Rate is how often they link your site as a source. Share of Voice is your presence compared with a fixed list of competitors. Citation Source Distribution shows which source types — your own pages, reviews, directories, publications, community threads — the engines rely on, so you know where to invest. Conversion Contribution connects AI-driven visibility to qualified leads where you have given us analytics access. We test 20–30 real buyer prompts across the major engines, three runs each, standardised and dated, then re-test monthly so you see movement over time rather than a one-off reading. The methodology is published on our research page.
05Can you guarantee my business will be recommended by AI?
No, and you should be cautious of anyone who does. AI engines decide what to say using models and sources outside any agency's control, and their answers change over time and vary by user and location. We cannot guarantee a recommendation or a specific ranking. What we can do is improve and measure the inputs that make a citation more likely: clear and consistent entity information, directly quotable content, a broad footprint of trusted mentions, accurate facts, and crawl access for AI bots. We then report honestly how your visibility moves against competitors, including when it does not move. Our commitment is to a transparent methodology and measurable progress, not to an outcome no legitimate provider can promise.
06How much does GEO cost?
Pricing depends on the service and scope, and all figures are in USD (and must be approved before they appear publicly). Our AI Visibility Audit typically runs $300–800 as a one-time engagement that gives you a baseline and a prioritised fix list. Build Sprints generally fall between $1,500 and $6,000 depending on how much content and structured-data work is required. Monthly retainers for ongoing monitoring and optimisation usually range from $800 to $4,000 per month. The final figure depends on the number of target prompts and languages, the competitiveness of your category, and the volume of content and citation work involved. We confirm scope and price after the audit, so you never commit to an open-ended engagement before seeing your baseline. Full detail is on the GEO services page.
07How long until I show up in AI answers?
Honestly, it varies, and anyone promising a fixed date is guessing. For less competitive, specific prompts we often see early movement within four to eight weeks, because AI visibility can build faster than traditional rankings — it depends more on clear content, consistent entity information and citations than on domain age. Highly competitive prompts, where established brands are already cited, take longer and require sustained citation-building. Engine behaviour also shifts month to month. That is exactly why we work to a fixed prompt set and report monthly: instead of waiting blindly, you watch your mention and citation rates move, and we adjust the plan based on evidence rather than hope. Our monthly retainer exists precisely because GEO rewards consistency over a single burst of work.
08Is GEO worth it for small businesses, or only big brands?
It can be especially valuable for smaller businesses, precisely because AI visibility depends less on the large budgets and aged domains that dominate traditional search. A focused business that structures its information clearly and earns a handful of trusted mentions can become the cited answer for a well-defined niche prompt more easily than it could rank page one for a broad, competitive term. That said, GEO is not right for everyone yet. If your customers do not research with AI assistants, the spend may be premature. During the audit we will tell you honestly whether there is enough AI-driven demand in your category to justify investing now, or whether you are better served waiting and focusing elsewhere. We would rather give you an honest "not yet" than sell you a service you do not need.
09What do you need from us to get started?
Very little to begin. For the audit we need your website, your main target market, and the names of two or three competitors you want to be measured against; from that we build the prompt set and produce a baseline. For an implementation engagement we also need access to edit your website or to work with your developer, your correct and current business information (name, services, locations, contact details) so we can make it consistent everywhere, and any existing content or brand guidelines. If you operate in more than one language, telling us early lets us plan multilingual coverage. We handle the testing, analysis and recommendations; your main inputs are accurate information and timely approvals, which are usually the biggest factor in how quickly results appear.
10How is GEO different from just getting reviews or doing PR?
Reviews and PR are actually important inputs to GEO — AI engines lean on reputable third-party sources, so strong reviews on trusted platforms and genuine press coverage both help you get cited. But GEO is broader and more systematic. It also covers how your own website presents information so engines can understand and quote it, the consistency of your entity details across the web, structured data that matches your content, crawl access for AI bots, and — critically — ongoing measurement of whether any of it is actually moving your presence in AI answers. Think of reviews and PR as two ingredients; GEO is the full recipe plus the thermometer that tells you whether it is working. Our measurement framework is the thermometer, and it is what most providers leave out.
